Specialized residential program for autism, nurturing development, communication, and social skills. For children/youth 6 to 18 yrs.
Offering a range of out-of-home living arrangements for children/youth 6 to 18 years old. We also provide a Therapeutic Aftercare Program.
The Out-of-Home Living Program provides services to children/youth whose support and safety needs necessitate a specialized living arrangement.
Services are individualized and implemented by Autism Youth Support Specialists. Each youth must participate in some type of school or day program in order to enter and remain in the Program. Integration with peers is actively promoted through participation in a wide variety of community activities.
Our summer day camp program is available to the children and youth in the program during the school summer break period.
Thanks to SASS, my son has been able to learn important life skills, as well as manage his behaviours and improve his ability to communicate. He's now successfully moved into supported adult living and has the skills he needs to get along with his roommates and take care of many of his own needs.
Our son was with SASS for 9 plus years. From the first day we walked through the door, we knew we were in the right place. They truly understood autism. His needs were met with caring and compassion. The therapists identified and helped him with skills he required, including toilet training. I can’t thank them enough for that! Decisions regarding Scott were joint efforts between our family and SASS. The lines of communication were always open. He was always treated with respect, as were we. We will always be grateful for the support for Scott and our family.
The Therapeutic Aftercare program offers afterschool and/or weekend support for children/youth.
Depending on needs, services are provided in the family home and/or at the SASS Out-of-Home Living Centre.
